About Today's Date & Time

Today's Date & Time is an independently run reference site for everyday date and time questions — what today's date is, what date falls a set number of days from now, how long until a given time, and how times line up across the world. Every tool is free, needs no account, and is built to give one clear, correct answer.

Who Runs This Site

Today's Date & Time is built and maintained by a small independent team that has worked on date and time calculators since the site first launched. We are not affiliated with any government, standards body, or calendar authority — we simply implement the published standards that those bodies maintain, and we explain our working so you can check it.

We are accountable for what we publish. If a result ever looks wrong, you can reach a real person at[email protected]or through our contact page, and we will investigate and correct it.

How We Calculate

Our results are not estimates. Each tool implements the same published standards that calendars, operating systems, and programming languages rely on, so the answer you get here matches the one your devices use:

  • Time zones & daylight saving.Conversions use the IANA Time Zone Database (the same data behind Linux, macOS, iOS, and Android), so daylight-saving start and end dates are applied per region rather than guessed.
  • Calendar dates.Day, week, and month arithmetic follows the proleptic Gregorian calendar with the standard leap-year rule — a year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except century years, which must be divisible by 400 (so 2000 was a leap year and 2100 will not be).
  • Week numbers.ISO week numbers follow ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week containing the year's first Thursday.
  • Julian dates.Julian Day Numbers are computed with the standard astronomical conversion algorithm, with the count beginning at noon Universal Time as the convention requires.
  • Your local "today"."Today" depends on where you are. Pages render an initial answer on our server, then your browser re-checks the calculation against your device's own clock and time zone on load — so a "days from today" result is correct for your local date, even near midnight.

Accuracy & Corrections

We review the methodology and the standards behind these tools regularly, and we update the site whenever time-zone rules change or we find a way to make a result clearer. If you spot anything that looks off, please tell us — corrections are a priority, not an afterthought.
